Getting members to my Forum??

The first thing you want to do is to get some conversation going on the forum, as there's no use to have people come to the forum when it is empty... You can use service like forum boosters and invite your friends to star threads.. do this for some time, time you have some action going on

Next, don't just invite people to join your forum, rather create a theme around the forum, and let people go to the forum to discuss. Assuming you are running an auto forum, create a front end website that talks about latest cars, sells cars etc... just anything to get a theme, and invite people to join the forum to give their opinion etc.

To get the traffic, you best hand out in similar forums, and have your signature promote your front end website, this is one of the best way to approach this. without spending a fortune

I previously asked this in someone else thread and didn't get the answer I was looking for, but I didn't want to push it as it wasn't my thread, so I will reask the question.
I have built a forum(not porn by the way), and I am wanting to know the best way to advertise and promote it, I know about getting backlinks and stuff, but I just want to be able to attract members to it, what is the best way? and were are the best places to advertise it?

Look dude, go and post in forums which will be your same niche. Dont post ur website name just add the web url in your signature and post some useful content. make the signature size big. Its enough it will fetch lots of members . A week back i started an adult forum in a different niche. I used this method, with in 4 days i got more than 450 members.

Hire some posters .Build up your post count and once it has enough topics of discussions/useful threads,your forum will automatically be shown in a "google/yahoo search" result which probably help you in getting more interested people to join your forum !!

I have some problems as I operate 2 forums. One is going good but one sticks only at 5-6 new members daily. The issue is that if is not a busy forum members will leave for forums like BHW where the discussions are rolling.

Im also thinking to use a PM mass program but still need to find a way ..i mean a gateway between the message and my forum otherwise I will end up getting a bad name in my niche for spamming.

Does anyone have a clue on what can I write on the gateway page where to redirect the Pmed guys to make them join my forum ?!
