Getting into marketing from app development. Need advice.

I've published few apps and one of the apps is currently making around 5000 USD per month.

I'm a software developer and I have no experience in marketing. I'm currently thinking of trying out FB ads and start learning marketing on the way. What areas should I look into in the marketing world? Do you think I should hire someone to do marketing work?
