Getting into google news is easy nowadays.
It is not my idea... please read this thread (at least a few posts from it) before asking any questions:
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/questions-about-google-news.1405642/It's actually easier than I thought. I don't know why I bothered with it as I have no indexing problem. I did it to try.

Submitted a site (NO NEWS)... waited a week or so... ACCEPTED.

submitted a side project 2 days ago, let's see how it goes

Would you like to explain how to check a news website is Google news approved or not? How to find Google news approved websites directly from search? Regards.

Go to google news and type "yourwebsite.com".

It should show results of your site except you have no news on your website.

I feel like most of the content sites built around informational and affiliate niches are acceptable by Google news.
It just checks these things:
1. Content Quality
2. Content Quantity
3. Regularity

That's a guess :D

But is it having the same impact, it had few years back? Now the top results are always taken by very high reputed news sites.
I don’t think so. In my niche there are 2 Websites which are every day on the top. They publish like crazy amounts of articles because they are real News Websites. One of them is a Website which publishes polarizing content with clickbait titles. And the other one publishes nutral and informational content.

Of course there are other Websites too in the News, but they are not fast enough and some of them are just picking up the content of the Websites which are on Top and spinning/paraphrizing or rewrite their articles.

I don’t think that it is worth the effort for a few clicks. But on the other hand if your niche is very small and there are not that much sites who regulary post News than it might be worth a try.

What can work in this field is niche news website. On the other hand, a general news website is more of a spam only these days.

Getting approval is easy. The real task is to get indexed and be visible under the news section. So, I have two websites in GNews for about a year now (have the news sitemap as well along with Instant Indexing enabled). Hardly do I get traffic from GNews barring an impression here and there.

You need to have substantial news content to be featured in GNews irrespective of whether you are approved or not. Just my guess tho.

As I mentioned in my post... I don't have a problem indexing sites.
I applied to see how hard it was and I already have some articles liksted in G news.

Yes, it's easy to get accepted

But it's not easy to avoid being 'ghosted' or ranked low due to quality factors

If you're consistent with Google News it pays off big time.

You need:
1) High quality REAL NEWS content published daily
2) You need good CTR to your headlines
3) you need retention rates from real / unique visitors

Google News is a great option for a site and can make your site GROW INCREASINGLY AT A RAPID RATE if you done for the right reasons

Another great thing about Google news is that you can come up with normal articles and rank them on your new site.

The key is to come up with the right type of "normal articles."

You can't just whip up a random article and expect it to do well.

Instead, you should come up with a summary or an analysis, something that is time-bound because this is what separates "normal articles" for new sites and other articles for non-new sites.

Other articles tend to be evergreen, meaning they talk about a subject that doesn't really change.

Well, the rules are different when it comes to new sites because for example, you will run a Forex site and you normally publish news about price fluctuations and macro economic trends, as well as political issues that may impact FX pair performance.

Your articles should also be time-bound.

So for example, you're talking about geopolitical issues involving the Ukraine invasion, you can write a normal article based on that topic for your FX site.

In the normal article, you will, of course, list down the risk factors and the pairs that may be impacted by this, that kind of thing.

And since you're saying that getting to Google News is easy, getting this time when your normal article should be fairly easy as well.

You think it's easy, because it's totally not "getting into Google News". Just "getting into Google Publisher Center". Your website is not a Google News website after that, sorry.
