Hello guys,

so I started using YouTube for a week now, and I get very decent results with Shorts. Around 4k-10k Views every 3-4 videos. I am growing at a good pace and I love the platform. However there is one problem.

1. The subscribers gained from Shorts don't seem very active

2. Short views do not count towards the YouTube partner program. Means no watchtime from shorts count.

3. Whenever I upload a normal video (no short) it gets no views at all.

I attached a screenshot of how it looks. Always the same pattern

Does anyone know why my short videos are blowing up but normal videos never work? I want my normal videos to get views like my shorts in order to collect watchtime for the partner program.

Thanks in advance

Shorts is a different section on YouTube, and it is treated differently from normal videos. Also, it is true that the subscribers gotten from shorts are not usually active.

Thanks for the reply.

So do you think there is a possibility that my normal videos will get views after some time?

I have a video uploaded that is currently sitting at 31 views and has a 26% CTR. Is there a chance it will get suggested other then the search section only?

Edit: and it has a 61,2% retention

Yes, there is a chance that it will get suggested. You would need to give it some time though

So if I understand correctly.

The YouTube algorithm shows the video at first in the Search for the keywords, for example "best anime 2022" and if it performs well there it may get shown to people on the homepage as a suggestion or next to other videos? Because that's my goal.

Yes, exactly. It analyzes your video for some time before it gives your video a better exposure on YouTube.

Hopefully soon. It's still getting views and CTR is still high but no suggested views yet :(

That was the case for me too, shorts earn me 1-3k views, but when i try upload the normal video it didnt gain views.

but i must admit, the shorts video easily get me a subscriber

a high ctr doesn't mean the ctr is high in browse or suggested. most people that have a high ctr comes from search ctr. check the advanced page to see what ctr you have in browse and suggested.
plus, 100 impressions isn't alot to judge the ctr of a video.

Yeah but the subscribers gained from shorts are inactive, at least in my case.

I thought you first need good CTR from search and then youtube shows the video for browse features?

having good engagement from search will increase some impressions for browse yes. but if your browse CTR isnt good from that, then its dead.

So you are saying if my video is doing good on search keywords, it will be possible to gain browse feature views and then eventually blow up a bit?

yes exactly! its also possible to gain traffic from suggested as well.
the most important thing to focus on for every video, is making it appeal to everyone, even if its for a smaller niche.
you can achieve this by making a awesome thumbnail and title, someone that isn't even involved with that niche may still find it interested and give it a chance to click on and watch.

I go to advanced stats and it only shows CTR. Its not specific about the kind of CTR it is, whether its browser CTR or Search CTR.

How do I separate it to see?

Do not give up mate. If you have any websites, add your video link over there. It's been only a weak, keep adding creative videos consistently, if anyone of video got hit, it gives more exposure to your channel. So don't lose hope so soon.

It took me 7 months to get my videos viral in my niche. I abandoned the channel after 3 months of regular uploading without significant results. If you eventually give up, do not delete the videos because YouTube algorithm/bot could pick it up at anytime to go viral.

go to your video analytics. click on reach tab. click on the advanced tab. then click on traffic source.
below you'll see the listed traffic sources!
