I have been hearing a lot lately that reddit has become much stricter, especially when it comes to comments. It seems like getting comments to stay live is becoming harder and harder, even when they don’t break any rules. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me? What has your experience been recently?

Thanks

Yeah I noticed the same, comments gets removed pretty fast for no reason at all Reddit has become like fort knox

getting comment to stay live ? like you commenting to keep the account live ? or you getting a comment from redditors to keep the account live ? you do not need know comments to keep account live

I have no problem. I feel its getting easier for me, as I've been a lurker for a great many years on reddit, and its only just recently i started going much more busy on my account. I don't even have any of my real money marketing much yet, but i plan to have more over the next few months, meanwhile i share funny stuff in many subreddits, to get my karma up. Takes like 5-15 minutes per day to be pretty active, you don't have to doom scroll for hours, get in, comment/marketing, get out.

Yes, I have noticed it too.

A few years ago, if a comment followed the rules, it would usually stay up. Now it feels like reddit and many subreddits have much stricter filters, and sometimes perfectly normal comments get limited or removed without any obvious reason.

In my experience, account history, subreddit participation, and how naturally the comment fits the discussion seem to matter more than ever. It is definitely harder now than it used to be.

I have heard that even aged accounts with good karma or getting banned or suspended if they accidentally give the suggestion about product or brand name Reddit’s systems interpret as rule breaking. It seems account age and karma don’t always protect you if a comment triggers moderation.

Yes, it's generally true to say that many users have reported harsh moderation and automated filters on Reddit, so it's not just you. However, saying that this is "100% certain" for every case would be too strong, as experiences vary depending on the subreddit and moderator settings.

Yeah I have noticed the same, a lot of subs are way more aggressive with filters now so even normal comments sometimes don’t stay live like before.

not if you are in the right sub, with a correct flair, and they allow self promotion. At least I have found a great many sub reddits, that i can promote in.

It’s not just you. Reddit seems to rely more on automated moderation now, so even harmless comments can sometimes disappear.

Guys, it not just the moderators of the sub but if you comment any link then literally Reddit is removing them before the mods even notice it. Real nightmare.

O
I haven't noticed anything unusual. I can still make comments and post that get upvotes and views.

When i was developing my reddit custom API, i found that there are a couple of specific endpoints that use AI that scans what you're typing in real time. So for example you type "what", if you type it slowly, it's gonna send 4 requests to the servers as you type the 4 characters and always return OK or not, same thing with posts.

So on top of this I believe they have AI actively scanning your account, maybe in intervals and studying your behavior and commenting frequency, your IP quality, device fingerprint, where you post, relevancy, whether you stick to a specific niche or post in 'unrelated' subs to your niche....etc

I think it's gonna get harder over time. try to stay in one niche of subs and maybe try to comment or post in subs that are related to the IP address area (not necessarily but i think it helps), and not post/comment too frequently and focus on building a good reputation

Reddit has become much stricter lately, and even genuine comments can get filtered due to spam detection, low account trust, or aggressive subreddit moderation.
