Getting Back into the SEO Game - Few Questions

I know that in mid to late 2011, one could use a service like buildmyrank in conjunction with bookmarking demon to rank a page in the top 3 for a competitive term that wasn't insane competition but intermediate and that paid well. (The page in question had good on-page seo and lived on a domain with a good reputation with good domain age).

Assuming I use a new blog network service that isn't tainted/destroyed like buildmyrank and I use bookmarking demon again, can I still use this same technique(blog network + bookmarking) in the present time(2012)? Or has the game changed too much where that wouldn't be enough?

Sure you could try, can't say if it'd work. Blog networks still exist but they've gone underground.

Less but quality bookmarks will work better. Aggressive bookmarking is partially safe for tier 3 and under.

You've found the goldmine, but you have to do your own digging.

Things haven't changed much I think.. It all comes down to have good (mostly manual build) tier 1 links. I would go easy on the bookmarking though
