Howdy,

Today I woke up to the happy news that I was getting a few extra thousand views on my tiny blog on one new post.

I rejoiced, but saw that at least half of those views were labeled as coming from "Wordpress Android App."

I'm not very active in the Wordpress community. And it looks like the new post is ranking between positions 5-10 on Google.

I'm wondering if you know what this means.

And how do I manage to maintain this number of views going forward? :)))

Does it impacted the earnings?
I'm not running any ads yet.

I hoped to get to 50-70K sessions/mo before doing that. If it keeps like this I'd have a good chance. But I don't know how to maintain this because I don't understand where it's coming from? :))

Is it possible that Google just sent some traffic my way to f*** with my head? :weep:

Do you build/maintain your website using the mobile app of WordPress?

It's google discover.

In terms of maintaining, you just keep doing similar things and the algorithm likes it. The algorithm or your site will get penalize and/or change any day in the future, but you cant really keep on top of that, so just make money whilst it lasts.

For what it's worth discover earnings are usually A LOT higher than search traffic earnings.

I don't know why people bother responding when they clearly have no idea what the answer is.

Thanks so much, man! To be honest, I was totally in the dark.

I think a similar thing happened to me about six months ago. Got great traffic for about two weeks. :)))

Any thoughts on how I could monetize it if it turns out to be a short-term thing? I'm not running ads. I was thinking of adding some affiliate links.

Ads are better for this kind of traffic.

There is no reason not getting google ads approval and just sticking this on your site before you reach 50k sessions. It won't have a negative impact. If you're already on discover, you will almost certainly be approved for adsense.

I also assume you're using jetpack to track your site states. Get analytics and search console, you will be able to monitor the traffic sources more accurately with these tools.

:) Thanks, man!

I'll do that. And I added some Amazon affiliates. See how that goes. I have a music-related website so that might work.

Do you think Ezoic is better than Google Adsense? I have a few friends who were talking about it.

And do you think that keeping the same topics and format increases my chances of getting on Discovery?

Like I mentioned, I got the same kind of spike in traffic back in December, but then went down.

Today I got the kind of traffic I (nearly) hit in a month :))) So, I may be bound for a mini-depression soon :))

I have earned a lot more with ezoic than google. However, many people complains it slows down their site.

I don't know about topics, I would check which posts did well in December and check which posts did well today.

If it was something like "10 gadgets that james bond used in 007 movies" then something like "10 watches that james bond wears in 007 movies" would likely have a good chance of going viral too. So try and keep one variable the same or similar and go from there.
