GETTING A JOB @ SEO AGENCY - PLEASE HELP

Why not contact past clients and ask if they have a copy of the serpbook pdf reports?

Do you have any sites right now that are ranking? If so put them on the CV, or at least allude to the fact that you are actively ranking for 000’s of terms and you can discuss in detail face to face.

That’s all the agency is going to be looking for right? Someone who can rank sites. If you are that person just be bold and show them.

If you don’t have anything currently ranking then you need to sell to them what you THINK you can do, and I guess this is pretty hard - that will essentially be the fake it until you make it approach. Maybe just a really bold or intriguing pitch on your cv to at least get an interview - just write a covering letter outlining an seo strategy or something

Looks like he wasnt responsible for any of the rankings from his words he as just hawking packages to outsourcers and siteowners, where they likely bought his work as a much larger effort e.g. he was the 1% in the bucket
Also any seo company who would see the trashy links would not likely hire him and they would see it as a minor part of that sites backlink profile
He is basically fucked unless he can lie like a wilderbeast and fake it all

If you're applying for these jobs via recruitment agencies, one thing to take into account is the fee they'll be charging the employer if you're hired. This figure can easily reach four figures, so you'll likely find employers are going to be extremely cautious of hiring you.

Already starting.. but ranking websites isn't an over night task. So I am going for a job, to keep a decent amount of dollar coming in.

At this moment in time. I would probably earn £20,000 a year with my affiliate marketing. If I get the job, that will be a nice boost to my money. All the money i get from my job, will be going into building my side projects, with the intention of getting them stable.

I have also got an interview for the job as well, heard back from the head of the seo department today, so i am super happy. Got a really good feeling about this now.

Listened to my gut instincts, I didn't listen to all the haters on the thread. Not sure what the hell all that was about.

I ask a question to get some tips, so i can be mentally prepared, then have a couple of idiots acting like fucking idiots. Makes me wonder if they are jealous.

I ended up emailing a couple of clients who emailed over me reports, they also said they would leave me a good reference, so ended up getting things sorted

Have an interview to prepare for now

I didn't read this entire thread because I really didn't have time but I just wanted to weigh in and say that you should offer to work for them for free and see if you can impress them if they like your work they will be more than happy to pay you way more than you ever dreamed of also watch your attitude on this form because they may look you up online and you definitely don't want to come off an asshole

I have never even heard of offcial SEO agencies. There are only groups of freelancers who may be registered as enterpreneurs. Or otherwise my knowledge is outdated.

A quick google search would be suffice.

I would say since you don't know this, then the SEO games is probably not for you. We are not living in early 2000's anymore, there is agencies whom are very easily turning over a million dollars a years and some a lot more.

I suggest you do some research before trying to what looks like you trying to be a smart ass but just blew up back in your face

I know its nuts, but i've literally had over 50 jobs. Mind you, they were mostly low pay jobs (under 15$ and lower), but I'm pretty good at getting jobs. The way i see it a resume is just a basic outline of your skills. I make my resumes super basic. My name/address/email/phone... Then past 3 jobs(relevant to jobs)/ basic info on jobs (like 2 things I did at the job). No Dates.No fluff.

I'm a strong believer that your resume is only 10%... 90% is showing you know your shit during the interview. This probably wont work for jobs that require a degree... but maybe it would? No idea.

Do you also do Blackhat SEO? I have some options for you.

Well that's good then. I just mentioned it because it caused me problems when i was looking as the figures the recruitment agencies were demanding to place me were absolutely insane. I gave up in the end to do my own things. Good luck to you though
