Recently, accounts doing brand mentions get banned.
More alarming is using new/aged and even high karma accounts to do the same brand mentions will get those accounts banned.

The question is; isn't this prone to a competitor just spamming your brand name and getting your brand banned on important Subreddits or sitewide?

I had this same issue. Does reddit ban that entire keyword/brand name/website link?

Same issue I faced. More than 4500 karma account 3-4 years old. Not sure what about website which we were trying to mention.

Reddit is a pain in the ass in 2026, I hope there will be a new alternative soon

that’s a valid concern if automated systems rely too much on patterns, competitors could potentially abuse the system by creating false signals.

I don't think Reddit works like that. If it did, anyone could get a competitor banned just by spamming their brand name. It's probably looking at the overall account behavior, not just the brand being mentioned.

Unfortunately it actually does work like that.....the reason being using even a clean, aged account for certain brands, they get shadow banned immediately. As a marketer I have seen this many times.

I don't think many people would choose this approach because it takes a lot of time and there's no guarantee it would have any impact on a competitor. In fact, the person with bad intentions is often the first to suffer when their own Reddit account gets banned.

Yeah, that’s the worrying part. If the system mainly reacts to the brand name, competitors could abuse it pretty easily. Context and posting patterns should matter more.

plz tell about bfrand mention

brand mentions alone wont get u banned if acc has solid history and real activity. ive been posting brand stuff on aged accounts for years. the issue is reddit sees it as spam/new promo setup then theyll nuke it. competitors spamming ur brand with new acc is pretty useless
