I'm getting roughly 500 visitors a day to my brick & mortar business site. The site is puppy related. Is it worth promoting to them on my site at risk of losing local customers. If so, what can I promote to them (cpa, ebook, amazon, other). Any ideas are much appreciated.

Would use adsense but don't want my local competitors to steal traffic from my site

Yeah, I would be very careful with offering anything to sell other than your own products. Why don't you open an online shop (is it already a shop?) and let them shop online? This would also let you extend your customer reach.

Also, collecting their emails is good as buildmorelinks said.

I ask you to test adsense, CPA, CB, etc., Test every thing for couple of week and see the results. Go for the one which gives you more $$.

I agree with these guys. Adsense on local sites doesn't look to crappy as long as you don't over do it. I've tried ebooks on local type sites and never made a sale, but I got some clicks so it's not the worst idea ever.

I think a list is a good idea too, which is rare for me (not the biggest fan of lists as most people are).

    Good luck.

I would try building a mail list and/or try market a cb product. I would be careful with adsense as it may steal "one or hundred" customers meaning you're risking "one or hundred" potential buyers.

1)Why not use that space to promote your own product/promo/sale?
    2)collect emails and have newsletters
3)contact brands you carry and see if they'd like to buy ad space direct? Or instead of brand you could also reach out to complimenting businesses. ex. Dog walkers, groomer, daycare, etc..
    4)adsense and apply filters

Definitely steer clear of adsense, that'd be such a counter-productive idea. Hard to tell exactly without knowing your site, but try to sell your own products/services. Only promote affiliate products if they aren't direct competition to yourself.

Keyword-wise, try to break down the task. If you are good enough SEO-wise to consistently rank micro- or mini- niche level words in the 1-3 position on page 1 of Google, that translates to about a 20% click through rate to your web page. Create a site with 10 related niche kws that draw, say, 7500 searches a month each, and you can pull 1,500 visitors to your site per each of them, or a total of 15,000 visitors/mo (500 visitors/day).

Yup. Building an email list is the best way to go for a real-world business. You can give them something free when they drop into your store the next time in lieu of exchanging their mail info. Ongoing business for you that way. You can sell whatever - CPA, Amazon books Clickbank Products or anything else - once you have the mail IDs handy. Cheers :)

I agree with the post above about your own products/store. Why not write your own ebook and sell your own products via your site? Great way to make money giving people what they are looking for rather than pushing other ads that you don't control.

First try to create a list, that will give long term money. Amazon is worth a check.
