How much cleaning with programs like ccleaner do we need to do before we can safely switch
proxies.

I use ccleaner to clean up my pc & another program after browsing called TweakNow RegCleaner 2012
and it always finds Adobe Flash Player stuff that ccleaner did not find.

Open ccleaner and go to Options -> Advanced and uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 24 hours".
Go to Include and hit add. add the folder under : C:\Users\**Win UserName**\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects
you should erase everything that is under this folder, do not erase the folder "#SharedObjects" itself ...

In this way you can use ccleaner to erase the .sol flash cookies from macromedia folder ...

I found this folder & picked the option to include files & sub folders but not
the original folder, is that the correct way you where talking about.

Yes, and now you are ready to go, also there is another folder C:\Documents and Settings\Charles Johnson\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\www.macromedia.com\sys\ or something like this erase this also ... bu leave the www.macromedia.com folder there ...

From your post it looks like it's the first one up top that your talking about right.

The first one is good the second one, no ... erase everything that is sys folder including settings.sol file and leave the sys folder ...

for others that do not know how to find the macromedia folder, before navigating to it make sure you have checked to view system folder and hidden files, from Control Panel -> Folder Options
