I know from personal experience that google translate is not good enough on its own to trick google into thinking your content is original. That is, if you are translating from english, through other languages, to english again.
But what if the content was originally written in another language by a native speaker? Running that through the translator into english can give you some pretty decent original content.
It's not perfect and there are mistakes, but it's human readable, fast and original.
Try it out here:
http://translate.google.com/translate_s?hl=en&source=translation_tab
Remember, don't copy from product websites, which will be the same in english. Copy foreign bloggers, whose content will not have been indexed by google in english yet
