This is terrible advice if you want to rank sites in the top 10. Sounds like some Matt Cutts bullshit. Create quality content, focus on loading times. Yeah, see how far that gets you.

Thanks for sharing...so useful especially for newbies. I need to learn to love Google+ now.

You a "Churn and Burn" guy I guess. Sympathies for you in that case. 'Cause you are living in the present and not thinking about the future.

I have a site that has around 180 high quality articles. I didn't do any link building but because of the content only, I am getting 200+ visitors per day and the site already got around 2k natural high quality backlinks (Shared by real people). I already started SEOing it by building high quality pumper sites. The site targets a keyword with 450k exact searches per month. And I am pretty sure that within another 6 months, it will be on the front page for that term.

Believe it or not, that's how the cookie crumbles. After a year, when others will be starving for some food of thoughts on what to do next for ranking sites quickly, I will be in Miami hanging out with some hotties

It's the basic advice which is good for newbies, but also to remind others that G will always come right back to this. You can see that G is once again paying attention to on page SEO again after seeming to have given it less attention the past few years.

They seem to be focusing less on content, but they always comes right back around to that.

8. Get links

As well as improving your rank, bringing in more traffic and generally being awesome, links potentially get your website crawled more quickly. Why? Because when Google crawls the web, it will find (hopefully) lots of links to your site littered throughout it. The more times it sees other websites pointing to you with links, the harder it is to stay away.

Um yeah going out and getting backlinks is considered blackhat unless you have a tool that forces people to backlink your urls. This is an easy way for Google to slap you.

You forgot the most important point to get google love :
Use russian sape

Even if your churning and burning
you should still do the basic stuff like this
it only takes a minute or two extra

"Link building vs. content marketing" arguments are pointless.
We all know the power of link building.
However, the biggest problem with content marketing is the fact that many people forget about the "marketing" part, so naturally it doesn't work.

Besides, it all depends on what you're doing. If you're, let's say, blogging about traveling and blogging isn't your primary source of income, you don't really care about rankings.
On the other hand, if you're doing something like affiliate marketing and you're selling products through your blog, then you want to rank as fast as possible.

So, do whatever works for your particular situation.
