Your‘re right i forgot the reverse dns thing. Then mate I guess that a free mass-check tool with mx validation will need a good algorithm for work distribution and a wide distributed network of servers. I remember a webpage where you could get information whether your own email was compromised by any leak or hack. Could be a good start to use such sites to validate only a few.
On the other hand storing the data would be useful to avoid a second request with the same address.

Yup, I am going to have a caching layer for sure, The focus right now is to get the accuracy near to 95%. Thanks for your awesome feedback

Since you are already thinking of all possible issues during realisation I would add a feature wish
Maybe you could calculate a score of the given email instead of valid or invalid. @gmail > @trashmail, marcel > fksbgbl, ....
So the ppl with bulk request could build up segments with all email > 90% valid or > 50%. Bounce rate should increase on second scenario for sure...

Verification scripts don't work for millions, it may work for a few hundreds and on a slow pace. The best way is you get your email server configured with somewhat flexibility to control your sending and later use some intelligent email marketing software for filtering out the data based on your sendig.
