So I was reading another sad thread about how Yahoo! Site Explorer is going to be officially shut down today and about how it's merging with Bing Webmaster Tools.

Since I don't like having Google products installed on my sites (paranoid idk) I figured what the heck, I'll try Bing Webmasters to see how the backlink reports are since I'm more focused on ranking in Big G.

So I went to the Bing Webmasters Sign up page and was greeted with a free $50 ad coupon for signing up.

Code:
http://www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster

Here is the catch:

First you upload a file that to your server that Bring gives you. Once you do that go into your webmaster account and click the verify link they gave you.

Then have to create a new AdCenter account with Bing.

YOU HAVE TO USE Internet Explorer when signup with AdCenter, I'm on Chrome and their site wouldn't let me signup, you get a warning pop up about incompatibility.

And second, you have to be a US resident, or fake it when signing up.

Then you have to add billing information before they let you add the coupon but you can just use a PayPal account or debit/credit card.

Here was the tricky part, actually applying the code.

Once you have entered in all your information and are only needing to add the code click the "Accounts and Billings" tab, then the actual account number (it's the random blue numbers).

Scroll to the very bottom of the page, and you will see where to enter the coupon code, click apply and BAM you have $50 :D

Offer valid only to residents of the 50 United States and Washington, D.C. The billing address in order for the coupon to be valid must be in the United States and a form of payment must be entered into your account at the time this coupon is being redeemed and prior to your account going live to take advantage of the credit

IT works with PayPal or it has to be a credit card ?! Don't know if it worthing the mess to purchase a VCC

I think it will still work.

I have 2 different account with AdCenter right now (by accident) and they have the exact same information name, address, phone number etc everything except the actual username for the account and I had no issues.

So if you can get a paypal account using a VCC then I think that you will be fine.

It clearly says US only!

I wasnt greeted so I used my server which is in the US

Thanks for sharing however i would be able to get this services because i am in jamaica and my paypal account was created in jamaica also.

best regards

Thank you. Although I am an old member in Bing, they gave me the coupon and I activated :)

i try some vcc and it doesnt work.. I get some coupon but, now i cant use it.

How did you use the VCC? Directly on the Bing account?

I would think that if you used the VCC to setup a paypal account then attached that to the bing account there wouldn't be any problems.

When you try to apply the code do they tell you why you can't apply it?

I followed the steps, got the code. I input the code and it looks like it took it, but my balance is still showing $0. I tried inputting code again and it stated code already accepted. Anyone ran into this problem?

It's not actually a problem your having. I've talked with an AdCenter rep on the phone when I first opened my account and experienced the same thing. Your balance is $0 even though the code is applied. The only time your balance will show is if you owe money if I remember correctly.

In short, monitor how much you use if you don't plan on using any of your money. Just spend less than $50 and you will be fine.

When they merged with bing, traffic and conversions tanked

Dont know if a 50 dolla incentive is worth the headache......

Has bing traffic improved.
