So I was reading another sad thread about how Yahoo! Site Explorer is going to be officially shut down today and about how it's merging with Bing Webmaster Tools.
Since I don't like having Google products installed on my sites (paranoid idk) I figured what the heck, I'll try Bing Webmasters to see how the backlink reports are since I'm more focused on ranking in Big G.
So I went to the Bing Webmasters Sign up page and was greeted with a free $50 ad coupon for signing up.
Here is the catch:
First you upload a file that to your server that Bring gives you. Once you do that go into your webmaster account and click the verify link they gave you.
Then have to create a new AdCenter account with Bing.
YOU HAVE TO USE Internet Explorer when signup with AdCenter, I'm on Chrome and their site wouldn't let me signup, you get a warning pop up about incompatibility.
And second, you have to be a US resident, or fake it when signing up.
Then you have to add billing information before they let you add the coupon but you can just use a PayPal account or debit/credit card.
Here was the tricky part, actually applying the code.
Once you have entered in all your information and are only needing to add the code click the "Accounts and Billings" tab, then the actual account number (it's the random blue numbers).
Scroll to the very bottom of the page, and you will see where to enter the coupon code, click apply and BAM you have $50
