I don't think the location where you actually purchase matters. The coupon is for .com TLD's so if you were trying to buy a .us or .ca extension I don't think it would work.
Yes you would need a credit card or debit card from my understanding.

I often use godaddy and have always found them good for domajn registration. I hear people slating them quite often? Why don't u like using them? Or is it just because namescheap is cheaper?

@Katika, thanks for the coupon code, are you trying to buy a .com or another extension?
The coupon code I originally shared was only for .com TLD's.

Yep, I rang godaddy support last week about this, the majority of coupons do not work in the UK.
I have tried many shared coupons and receive the same error.
Gunna try katika's share now.

@ deancow - I would suggest either switching your IP Address to a usa based location with a tool like HMA or calling godaddy directly. As long as the TLD is a .com it should work.

I have rang them and they couldn't put it through on their end either. The guy was actually really confused, until he realised I was trying to use a coupon, and said it couldn't be used outside the US.

Once you are using a us based IP Address re-try the coupon code. Also clear out your cookies and history first.
