Geography Game Time Waster!

Here's another time waster for you guys. It puts you in a randomly generated Google Maps location and you have to use the clues around you to guess where you are.

Here's a few tips:
The side of the road that people drive on will help you narrow your options down a little bit.
The language used on the business and driving signs helps a lot.
Remember to use your compass wisely! Coastline + compass is very helpful!
Take note of the locals - the kinds of cars they drive, how they dress, their race, and their apparent socioeconomic status. Some things are easier found than others
You get 5 different places each round, and you score points for accuracy in your guess.

I played two rounds in which I spent several minutes in each location and my higher score of the two was about 6,000, and a third round in which I took guesses based on my first 30 seconds of looking around and I scored a little above 9,000. I'm not exactly sure what to deduce from that fact... Though to be fair they were all in or near North America (my homeland!).

For those of you who think you're well traveled or good with geography... put yourself to the test!

I didn't allow myself to use any external resources - no Google Translate, no flag look-ups, no nothin'! Whether or not you do that is up to you!

You mean 9K points altogether or 9K points in one round? You either know the place or the place is well known. To get anywhere near 9K points you literally have to be spot on when it comes to the location. I had something like 40KM away and got 4K points. This was using domain whois on a domain that was found in the street view. I didn't bother to click exact location, if I did I'd probably get more. You're either lucky or the above to get 9K points. On one of the rounds I was put in a shop and was unable to go any further than the road outside.

But all in all, it's pretty cool.

I just missed the San Francisco bridge by 9km. If I gave it a few seconds I guess I could of been spot on but then again I've never seen it on the map. I'm not in the US so can't really blame me for not knowing.

You missed with 9.065 km which gave 5786 points.

i got 8717 in my second go. it was higher in my first. The trick is to look for car number plates and road signs. if the car number plate is the small square type your most likely in usa and then road signs will be green if your in eu then look for number plates as they have the country code on them plus look for language signs. i havent ended up in asia yet but i imagine it'll just be the complete opposite of those

Is that 8K points all together as in 5 rounds or 1 round? Just because you know its the US or Europe don't mean shit, you still need to make it under 50km to get anywhere near 4K points in one round.

That happens from time to time. It kind of sucks, but it's an added challenge.
It's fun but I didn't say it's without glitches!
