GeoDomain Local Business Question (Help Please!)

Hey Guys!

I am pretty new to BHW and domaining and the internet so any help here would be much appreciated.

I am starting a local business and am wondering if I should:

Name my actual business TownNameProfession and have a corresponding website that is TownNameProfession

or

Go with a more general and catchy business name and figure out a way to redirect the TOwnNameProfession domain to this new catchy business name website.

Will a 301 redirect provide me the benefits of the local type-in traffic and geo-targeting by the SE's or will it not do much if I have no site built for TownNameProfession?

Would I possibly be better of making minisites with the names of surrounding local towns such as TownName1Profession and TownName2Profession and then have them all link to my catchy business name site.

If I host these minisites on separate IP's will it help my rankings or hurt them in some way by looking like it's too manufactured?

I know this thread is is very old. And I hate to be the guy to revive the old thread, but the OP brought up something that I think is clever and I would like to hear some other input.

Making mini, geo-targeted sites and redirecting to the main site. I think this could prove to be a great benefit when trying to rank a local business in neighboring cities.
I would have thought of the second question - about hosting on separate IP's - but it may indeed be of some importance.

OP - did you ever put this idea into practice?
Does anybody else have input regarding these techniques?
