Geo based ranking

Hiya this might be a stupid question but is there a method to Target ranking on a certain country's Google results page for example I'm based in the UK but my webhosting is based in the USA ( not sure if that makes a difference) website is a .com and I've started ranking for certain keywords on Google UK but wanted to know if I need to do anything different to start ranking on the American Google or is it just a case of waiting

The target country for .com can be chosen in GWT. Go to old GWT version, under search traffic select international targeting. Then select the specific country you target.

You can select your target country from Webmaster Tools. If you are interested to rank your site for specific countries then list your site in GMB.
