Geo-targeted or GPS-based Google reviews really helps boost a business's visibility on Google Maps and GMB. But Google hasn't confirmed it as a direct ranking factor, local reviews can enhance credibility and relevance to nearby searches, & improving local search rankings.

Hey as everyone mentioned above Geo-targeted or GPS-based Google reviews can indirectly help boost GMB and Google Maps rankings by increasing visibility and credibility in the local area, but they are not a direct ranking factor.

Instead of targeting GMB try to target the reviews towards LSA. I have seen rankings rapidly shoot up the map pack when directing review traffic towards the LSA.

at my agency we've also been trying to use this method to have our clients show up more in the LSA sponsored ads. I can't for sure say whether or not it's working for that as google seems to rotate those anyway.
