I think that it is a solid plan with a source of traffic, and a monetization outlet. Facebook is perfect for school networking, and you might go one step further and incorporate buddypress or similar for student profile capture and simply as an ownership incentive for user added content.

I like it. I will probably try it. Money isn't really on my mind with this plan. Seems like I could become a celebrity, albiet a nerdy one.

I won't charge a thing. At first, it'll be free and if they like the service, they could "donate" to my college fund. I guess I need to build up a social network for this on facebook. I wonder if SEO would work. I don't think too many college students google to where to eat, etc.

Seems like a feasible idea to me. I don't think facebook marketing is as good as some people think. I've used it, and the results weren't that great. I'd stick to the typical free marketing to get your site out there. Make sure you get indexed asap so people can find you. Use twitter, and if you need help getting followers, send me a message, I can tell you how to get 2,000 in 2 or 3 weeks from a brand new twitter account.

You can use still use facebook, I'm just not sure if you'll get the results you want from it. Good Luck.
