Generating local web-design leads?

Hey I'm a freelance web designer for my main gig, but I'm having trouble generating the amount of local leads to have a successful business. I'm currently using Craigslist and word of mouth to get myself out there, but I know there must be several methods that appeal to local companies, interested in web-design services. Don't limit yourself. Build brand awareness by remarketing to people who haven't bought from you yet.

Open the newspaper and call all the local businesses listed in there. Instead of them paying hundreds of dollars to be in print, they can be online with your help.
