What is the best way to generate traffic to one of my youtube videos i'm promoting my site on? I don't want to buy views, I want legit traffic.

You want real traffic, I mean people interested in your video ?
You need to rank your video higher. So instead of buying views, buy seo service.

Content is King. You could actually buy content for your channels. Fiverr is a good source. Quality gets retention.

Think of site online with people on it that are interested in the content of your videos, then embed, link, post cloak links, things along those lines will help.

post on social media, let your best friends post it also on their social media and ask if their best friends will share it too! i know its easier said than done, but that is the fastest way to go! Put your link in signatures of the forums you are registered to. Search for forums/facebook groups in your niche and try to post it there. but dont SPAM, lol.

you must write the appropriate description for the video and add targeted keywords or tags regarding video.

Make sure to put the keywords that you're trying to rank in the title of your video.
