General Niche Business Plan

Hello all, just getting started in this whole IM thing, and affiliate marketing seems like quite a profitable and relatively easy choice for a newbie such as myself.

My plan is to create a website, of course, geared towards electronics. The whole website/niche being general electronics, with subsections such as Computers, Audio, TVs, etc. Within each of these subsections I review/talk about specific products, with affiliate links to Amazon/CB.

Does this seem like a viable plan? Or is it better to create multiple domains, each geared towards the different subsections of electronics? Is the electronic niche terribly saturated? Just looking for the advice of more experienced IMers, because electronics is truly my passion (I even work in IT) and I believe I will have an easier time working on something I am passionate about.

However, I don't want to work on this for months or even a year or so to find that this niche is saturated and unable to make the $$$.
From all the threads I have read on here, I understand that niche research is one of the most important parts of creating profit, and I want to start off right.

Any advice or direction is appreciated greatly!

That is a viable plan. You just need to do proper keyword research. That will sort out the terribly saturated niche as you say. If you work months or a year for one site, that would be awesome dedication.
1 article a day would mean 365 articles a year. Add a VA to write double that and you have over a thousand articles.
Since IT is your thing, i hope it goes well. Read on BassTrackerBoats's thread (http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...te-search-engine-optimization-case-study.html). That is truly a gem.

Hey thanks faithislove! I did take a look at BassTrackerBoat's thread, exceptional for sure! However, he undoubtedly has much more experience than me, as I said I am a newbie. Hell, not even sure what to do in regards to keyword research...

Sweet, exactly what I am looking for.

However, I did read somewhere that he said it takes years (with an s) to get these sites going...I am fine with months and around one year, but I do not have the luxury of years to create a decent site. He said one website of his covers all of his expenses and more, which sounds great, but will decent profits come in after a few months? I am thinking like 50 bucks a day as a starting point.

Just don't want my site to be bringing in 5 cents a day after 5 months or something ridiculous like that.

Any advice greatly appreciated, thank you!

First off let me tell you that I'm not experienced in Amazon affiliate website, not as much as many people around here. But I can already point out some things that you need to get rid off in your mind in order to get money from this plan.

///It is not easy for newbies. Amazon affiliate website ARE IN FACT profitable, but you will have to digest a lot of knowledge:

Website creation
Design
Keyword research
On page SEO
Off page SEO

And each of those is quite a big thing to master.

///If you don't want to work on things for month, this is not the good choice. Since you call yourself a "newbie", there are big chances that you will fail along the road of benefits. Depending on the niche, your rapidity to write original content, to rank keywords, your site can rank from 1 month to 6 or more.

///Last and not least, the niche. General electronics is too broad and most of it's sub categories are leaded by big companies. You should try and go within sub-sub-categories and look for a specific range of product etc.

It's a very viable plan.

I would recommend you turn it into a huge authority site over time. So have everything on the same site.

Don't forget to brand it too. The user "t0mmy" wrote a good post on this recently, but I have to go out now so just use the search bar.

Thanks for the input, but I said relatively easy. All of this IM stuff seems difficult to me at the moment, but I have a basic understanding of how affiliate marketing works. Plus I can use multiple avenues to monetize my site, for example amazon affiliates, CB, Google Adwords, etc.

And I never said I don't want to or can't work on this for months, I am fine if this takes a year or more to make decent daily earnings. I just believe if after a year of doing SEO and article writing and making nothing, it will be disheartening and hard to continue. After 6 months I want to be making SOMETHING. 5 bucks a day. 10. Something.

The reason I choose a general idea and want it to be a huge authority site is because this seems like a good plan for long term constant profit. Similar to what BassTrackerBoat does. Plus my knowledge of electronics in general is enough for me to write many articles about.

Unfortunately, as far as web design/creation and any form of SEO goes, I have no clue. We all gotta start somewhere I guess.
