General eBay Item Ranking Question? Confusion!

I'm selling low risk items on eBay with a good account with Great Feedback, Few Negatives, Almost Top Rated Seller (maybe on the 20th), Power Seller, Very Aged Real Account.

I'm confused because the items I'm selling don't pop up towards the top when searched by "best match" while I've sold more items and have a lower price than people ahead of me. My listings are towards the bottom of the first page and even sometimes on the 2nd page if there are a good amount of listings. Things were going great for a while but now the sales have slowed down quite a bit and it seems that the reason is because I'm not coming up towards the top in searches.

I've waited about a week to post to see if they would pop back up towards the top.

I was wondering if it was because I've had these few negatives... I'm not really sure what to think. It almost seems like a "soft ban" or something like that.

Does anyone have any idea as to why this is happening? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I dont really have enough experience with ebay to comment, but did the few bad feedbacks come recently? Like around the same time you noticed a drop in ranking.

Could be that the guys ranking above you are doing better when it comes to ratings, even if a person leaves positive feedback they can still give lower ratings on things like postage time, communication etc.

Like i say i don't have any real experience just throwing thoughts out there.

Good point. I've had 3 negatives within the past month according to the feedback. The one is getting revised since it was a miscommunication. These are the only 3 negatives on the account. They were weeks ago but the sales dropped within the past few days. Maybe it took time to catch up?

Under the "Seller Performance Rating" Page, It says I have 1 low detailed seller rating for item not as described (which I think is a 2 or 3 star) and a few other strikes for cases opened and the strikes for the negatives.

My percentage is 1.07% which is pretty good considering you need the 2% to maintain TRS. I can see if the listings improve once the buyer revises his negative.
 
I would relist one of the items and see what happens then but it is most likely because of the ratings.

In this position I would also sell a cheap item and price it a lot lower than my competition to improve the sell through rate and boost the rankings for other items.

Also to add to this and the most recent comment, I relisted an item that had 39 watchers on it the last time I was selling it. I relisted it yesterday and it has 3 views since listed. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but won't all 39 of those watchers get an email stating "an item you were watching has been relisted"

That is pretty much why I started this thread. Sorry that I didn't include it in the first post.

That sounds like a good idea. I wouldn't mind losing some money on some items to boost overall sales. Thanks for the idea

More items with better prices may have been added since you last listed so it would go further to the bottom of the pile. Try starting with a low price at first to get the sales rolling and climb the rankings.

I always found I had better results if I 'sell a similiar item' instead of 'relist' but that's just me.

And no I believe they just get an email sayings its ended.

SEO work doesn't really help at all on eBay and only marginally on Amazon. The most important things are how much you sell, sellthrough, and defect rate and everything else is way way less important. And yes that means it's almost impossible for new sellers to break into categories already dominated by sellers with high metrics.
 
i always tweet my listing on the top right hand side of the ad and drive 30 40 views at it and this seems to help rank my listings from view counts ,it may not work in every niche but give it a try. i think this is the same reason people with hundreds of items on 1 listing rank is from the volume of views rather than sales.
 
Are you talking about all your items? Or just a few specific items?

Did these ranking higher before and then suddenly drop? Or have they always had low ranking?
 
ebay is dead with seo now - watchers used to work well for me

best to sell at break even for first 50% of sales on your stock and gradually increase price
