In most rankings, ChatGPT is considered slightly better, but Gemini 2.5 (available for free with higher limits) is very close to ChatGPT models.

Is paying for ChatGPT still worth it? Or just move on and use Gemini for free?

It all depends on your needs, for overall usage, I still prefer ChatGPT, but Gemini 2.5 is also amazing and Google is definitely improving in a fast pace

I like to use several grok, chatgpt, Gemini. I give the same prompt and see which has the best outcome.

Yes, I've noticed that too. Gemini 2.5 is stupidly close to GPT right now, especially with those sweet usage limits. But GPT (especially the pro version) still outpaces on stuff like subtle reasoning, on-the-fly creative writing, and that enormous plugin ecosystem. If you’re a normal user who simply needs rapid answers or brainstorming, then Gemini is a good, free option. If your use case leans on the more advanced features, ,coding, deep research, business integrations, daily and weekly planning, etc. paying for GPT can still be worth it.

So for everyday chats: Gemini.

For power-user stuff: GPT.

It 100% beats ChatGPT.

Here is my ranking. Keep in mind, I use it for complicated coding mostly, not for daily tasks:

1. Claude 4.0
2. Gemini 2.5 Pro
3. Grok
4. ChatGPT
5. Meta AI (Llama)

ChatGPT made a big step backwards when they decided to remove o1 for plus users.

It depends on your usage and needs, but overall, I don't think ChatGPT worth it compared to Gemini, at least for now, things are changing quite fast

If you value top-tier performance, ChatGPT Plus is still worth it—especially for creative tasks, coding, and complex prompts. But if you’re just doing light tasks, Gemini 2.5 is solid for free. Depends on your needs.

AI comes in market because of chatgpt. and chatgpt is still best in market. but gemini is google product. and google has more user than anyone in world so gemini has more resources to learn from users and they have better chances to beat chatgpt.

ChatGPT: I've found o3 to be the best for basically everything, reasoning, creating guides, explanations etc
Grok: Good for knowledge acquisition
Gemini: Excellent for finding information, poor on natural language (it still writes like an AI from 2 years ago, whereas the other models have improved their textual response somewhat)
Claude: Claims to be great with code, have tried it in the past for this but didn't have a huge amount of success. I replaced it with Manus which has broadly been excellent at one shotting certain tasks e.g. building a website from scratch & writing the copy for it.

Gemini's catching up fast, but ChatGPT still feels more solid for logic-heavy tasks; tho Gemini's free tier with higher limits is tempting, I find myself switching between both depending on what I need.
