GDPR & Cold Emailing Consumers

I have looked around and can only seem to find information on cold emailing B2B in the GDPR world. I have a fitness business and want to build a huge email list of consumers for email marketing.

Now with GDPR, is using my own methods to find peoples email addresses (ie not buying them) and cold emailing them asking them to sign up against the law?

If the addresses identify individuals then yes. If they’re generic - info@ for example, I believe you are ok.

GDPR is only valid when sending to users in the EU.
