Hello, I own a gaming site (forum) I made it about a month ago. Lets just say it never took off and I have had a hard time getting members or making any money off of it. If you guys have any ideas on how to get members and make money, I would be more then happy to give you 50% of the profits.

    Pm me for the url

LMAO! So you're asking us to create a whole site and market it, andwe'll get 50%? Why wouldn't someone do that and keep 100% of the profit?

Oh no, I read the thread. Obviously if you aren't making money off it and aren't getting many members... you're going to need a new designed site. Just a whole new site that doesn't suck. Please just leave the forum. I'm tired of n00bs just posting for help creating sites and making money. You especially. You agreed on a price for n ebay account and then when Ipaid you said you were going to pursue a higher offer. GET LOST.

Now I am LMAO! First you did not pay for the account and did not want to pay because you thought I would scam you. Second you told me to sell it to the other guy. Third the site is built fine, you have not seen it so how can you say it sucks? Third you are just a flamer so GTFO of my thread. You think way to high of your self the point of a forum to learn and help out other people which you suck at...

    Delete site. Sell t-shirts instead.

Or just use it to push links to your other sites.

Either way, walk away with this lesson:

You can't monetize a gaming news site by selling games because you hit the visitors too early in the buy cycle and Gamestop/Amazon have 1 day cookies. That's why the 'big guns' all monetize with CPM.

Anything can be monetized - the question is how effective that monetization is.

Forums are notoriously hard to start. You need to create five different personas, and spend DAYS having conversations with yourself. Nobody wants to post on an empty forum. Even then, it might not work.

If you want an example, three of my sites are relatively new gaming sites, monetized with price comparisons linking to affiliate programs, and AdSense. I've made TWO sales this month, from around 14000 UV. I'm looking at a 0.05% conversion rate on AdSense.

CPM is the only way to go with gaming sites, and finding those is difficult.

    Build traffic, monetize later.

I run a gaming site that gets 2,500 -3,000 UV a day and close to 200K page views a month. I was making only $80 a month with AdSense and had to switch to CPM because the clicks were minimal and low paying. I also put a forum up thinking with all of the comments people were leaving, they would make forum posts instead. After a month with it up, me and one other person were the only ones to post.

Truth is that it is hard to monetize a gaming forum unless you get lots of members, which is impossible unless you offer something unique that they can't get anywhere else...

you can't expect that a new website will make you tons of cash just like that.
well if you put 2k for design, 5k for coding, 5k for seo/marketing you probably could take off on the third month... sit down and work harder & smarter, expect first results after 6 months sounds real to me.
