Hi everyone,

This is my first actual post on the forum, I usually just roam around the marketplace and support the people there but I need to be more active in the forum itself.

Now to the actual idea: I have an email list of 80,000+ personal email addresses of users of a now-defunct gaming software that I purchased.

What is the best way to monetize this list in a recurring way? Does anyone have any recommendations, or experience with this? I was considering turning this into a general PC gaming newsletter, but I'd love to have a discussion with everyone about this.

Here is my method based on some other posts, and even professional companies that do something similar:
- Take the list and clean it (obviously) using help from a marketplace seller
- Start writing a newsletter at the likes of 5-bullet Friday by Tim Ferris
- Start reaching out to sponsors and test affiliate programs
- Gamify a referral program similar to what morning brew does by providing rewards for each referral

Are there any things you think I'd need to pay special attention to? Or is this even a viable idea?
I would love to know your ideas - and I will make sure to post my journey on BHW as well.

Thanks everyone!

Why would anybody be interested in talking about a defunct game? Is there a similar game that is still available you can refer them to and the build your newsletter around that?

I probably should have clarified it a bit more (and just made an edit to my original post), that it will be a general PC gaming newsletter. Like cool tips and tricks, news, game trailers, unique things that popular gaming news sites don't really talk about much etc

Hey Brother Can You Take Game's Key I Will Supply You In A Bulk?

Your idea of monetizing your email list by turning it into a PC gaming newsletter sounds promising. A few things to consider:

  1. Data Privacy: Ensure you have the proper permissions to use these email addresses for a newsletter. Comply with data protection regulations like GDPR if applicable.
  2. Content Quality: The success of your newsletter will depend on the quality and relevance of your content. Make sure it's engaging and provides real value to subscribers.
  3. Monetization Strategy: Experiment with different monetization methods like sponsored content, affiliate programs, and referral programs, as you mentioned. Monitor what works best for your audience.
  4. Building Trust: Building trust with your subscribers is crucial. Be transparent about your data source and how you use it. Provide valuable, unbiased information to maintain credibility.
  5. Community Engagement: Encourage discussion and engagement within your newsletter community. This can foster a sense of belonging and increase the chances of subscribers staying active.
  6. Analytics: Regularly analyze your newsletter's performance and user engagement. Adjust your strategy based on data to optimize results.
  7. Legal and Ethical Considerations: Make sure you adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines, especially when it comes to email marketing and affiliate relationships.
Remember, it may take some time to see significant recurring revenue, so be patient and persistent in your efforts. Best of luck with your PC gaming newsletter venture, and we look forward to hearing about your journey on the forum!
