The thing with gambling is to be disciplined and know when to stop. I was gambling big time a few years ago, and won quite a bit. Won 3000 on one bet, and 100's on betting on horses. But the 'i want to win more' thinking kicked in, and i ended up losing.
But if i had been disciplined, i could have been a professional gambler seriously. I used to look for top jockeys that had only 1 ride all day, which means the horse has a very good chance of winning. Did this with a jumps race, the horse was 16-1, the jockeyhad one ride, had 100 pounds each way,and he won. Won 2200 pounds
People say gambling is a mugs game, but not if you know what you are doing.

This is what I do as my primary business. Like any other type of affiliate if you know what you are doing it can be lucrative.
The issue is unlike spaming or affiliating something like e-Cigs etc, you really have to know the market and what offers are going to appeal to what people.
You also need to know which sites are good and have the best sticktion for your players. The site offering hte best CPA/% is often not hte most lucrative site because they simply pay affiliates alot and don't offer good bonuses to players which entice them to signup.
On the flip side, some sites offer great deals to players and crappy deals to affilaites.
This isn't a business of compromise. There are sites which offer great deals to players and to affiliates.

Yes you can make money a number of ways online. One of the most common is playing poker where you the more skilled player.
There are other ways too.
Poker used to be phenominal but its gotten tougher year by year. Wherein 10 years ago you could probably teach someone to be a winner in like 3-4 months. Nowadays even skilled veterans have issues winning because there skill level of the fish has risen and there are less fish.
If somewhere you in your mind are thinking, "this is a easy fun thing to do, I won't have a boss, I won't have to work as hard as my shitty job" Just stop there-- Its a very tough living, one that can be rewarding but you have to have iron clad discipline. You also have to be pretty skilled nowadays.
Its full of emotional ups and downs.
Over my years of playing professionally in poker, I've pretty much never made less than 100k any year I played full time. In 2010, in the first three months I was up over 70k. By the end of the year I had only made 82k-- (Think about that for a sec exactly what my per-hour earn was the remaining 9 months and what it must have felt like to win and lose over those months)
This year although I have only been playing 1/4 time (I have a full time affilait ebusiness which is pretty sucessful and another business) it will be my first losing year ever.
I've put thousands of hours in this year and a far above average skilled veteran. I'm making negative hourly rate for working.
There are legitamate reasons to try to gamble for a living and for some people its a job they love.

I was playing poker for some time and it was fun, i was actually really good at it, never lost an investment and usually earned a lot more. My biggest earnings in one deposit session was, deposited 10 $ via Neteller and cashed out 550 $ via Wire Transfer .
Also i tried my luck at roulette, but my biggest problem was i couldn't stop, i remember once i had left 5 bux from poker and i said what a heck let's try roulette maybe i could get more money to play poker again, and it started awesome i was winning round by round and at one point i had 1.200 $ earned, i was so much excited, i feel like i had 100% adrenaline in my self i just couldn't stop, and i started loosing, and i couldn't stop there either, i lost everything i earned.
And then i said NO to gambling.
