So I hope this is the right forum for this thread but in 2011 I setup an online gambling niche site which reviewed different deals etc in my particular niche. Originally all my work was white hat and I built out a really good site with great content. At one point I was ranking highly for a juicy keyword phrase and I was making around £2k a month for a short while. However, I made a bad move and used some black hat methods and eventually got penalised and lost my rank. I’ve not done much with the site over the last few years but it’s kept ticking over and still brings in all small amount of monthly revenue. However I know with some and the right amount of work I can start bringing in decent revenue with it again. So I’ve reached a decision that I’m going to go for broke with it and see what happens. I don’t care if I go down the black hat route again and only rank for 3 months for the top keyword before being crushed by google.
So I’m wondering what you guys would recommend the best route would be to success with an 7 year aged site with high quality content. I’m not passionate about the niche so not so bothered about going down the organic route with posting ‘high quality content’.
In my mind these are the options:
1. Start an an adwords campaign for my high value keyword phrase (I remember having problems getting gambling ads approved in the past) and spend a few hundred a month and hope the CPA deals I have convert enough to cover costs
2. Blow some cash on some sort of SERP boosting service on here if I can find one that is genuine and gives you results. Again I’ve tried this in the past without much success. But would be keen to hear any recommendations
3. Try to sell the site to someone willing to take it on. Although not sure how much it would be worth?
4. Do nothing a be happy with the current passive income currently varies between £25-£500 a month
Would love to get everyone’s thoughts on this...
