Gaining Twitter Followers?

Hey guys, this is my first post! Note, I am not asking to be spoon fed, just strongly led in the right direction. What methods would you suggest to get a large sum of twitter followers? They must work on a mac(thats what I got), and preferably be free/cheap. I know things like addmefast, imacro, etc, but is there anything else out there? Thanks for any replies

If you want free then imacros. You can also tweet at another big twitter account in your range to trade RT's. You can also check the twitter bot in my sig

Well there is follow for follow. Use 3rd party software or twitters integrated search system & go for terms like #teamfollowback and stuff like that.
If you want a more targeted following, follow people in your niche/interest & post good content. Say majority of your tweets are about basketball for example, follow other people who tweet about basketball. They'll notice you and if you have good tweets you might find yourself getting a follow back. Scrape users off of keywords related to basketball and follow 100-150 new users per day, at the end of the week unfollow whoever isn't following back and then repeat.
