I have a client who just brought to my attention an interesting situation: He has a fairly new website with a lot of pages and a number of them have been indexed. If he does a site: check the pages are there. Now if he searches for any of the content (even by copying and pasting the text that's right in the description) there's no result. Is this a symptom of the newness of the indexing and will eventually rectify itself, or is it something stranger?:google2:

Omg! Look! Up ahead! Is that a... Bump? :D

When you look at the cached pages on google does it show the content? May have a cached page before the content went on there?

What if you look the site up with MS? How does it rank for its primary terms?

This has happened to me before on my brand new sites. I would give it a few weeks. How is your site set up? Is it static CSS or Wordpress?

Thanks for your replies.

1) Cached pages show content as of the last bot's visit a few days ago.
2) Heck, I've never heard of this either and that's what makes it so whacked.
3) Sorry, call me a noob but I don't know what MS is.
4) Pages are all static HTML and there are thousands of them.
:)

This is the first Im hearing of this, let us know how it turns out so we can avoid this if possible.

Just checked about a dozen pages at random off the site's SERP. All still doing it. Very friggin' weird! :(

You should ping your site and use a rapid inidexer. I had this problem on a new site of mine after I read this thread. I RSS pinged them both, and rapid indexed them. Today all of my content is indexed.

I really appreciate your reply. Please excuse the noobishness of these questions:

1) http://pingomatic.com/ or ???

2) IndexSpy; Web Traffic Genius; IM Rapid Tools or ???

Thanks!

Do you not have scrapebox? If not, then you will have to find these services manually on your own, as I use scrapebox to perform this function.

Nah, this is a strictly White Hat site that belongs to a client. I do anything BH on it or use anything that even smells of BH and he'll tear me a new one. :(
