Hey

you know the map thing on GG?

How does G define who is top of that IE the A B C positions....

do they work those out based on normal factors? or is it something to do with which is nearest to the person who is searching???

I know how to submit to g local for the map thing but would rather have top organic position than postion F on the map thing.

Local optimization is a art similar to black/whitehat SEO. Here are some of the major factors that help:

Citations (references to your business name, address, and/or phone number). Citations are to local optimization as links are to SEO. Probably the highest weighted factor

Reviews - Google aggregates reviews from trusted authority directories (the Yelps, Yellowpages, etc of the world)

Location proximity - If you do a geo-qualified search (ex. "dallas pet groomer" and the business is just outside of dallas, it might not show up espeically if there are are tons of other service providers.

One of the best resources on this topic is David Mihm's blog and his Local Search ranking factors.

Hope it helps

excellent work for your new posting welcome to the dance....expert

so i am assuming they decide who is a b c d an e an its nothing to do with the placement on the map... so position a is top of the class an position f is not so good..

that said I rank 1 in the organics.... i tend as a user never to use those map things they are often full of gay an i look for the organics again... similar to what they say in david vineys book, the organics get the action
