Steemit has had it's days. Still a good site to get backlinks, that's all I use it for now. Maybe if Ned can get some creative inspiration , he just might be able to revive the steem block chain. Steem is undervalued in price, its one of the few cryptocurrency projects with a good use case. I hope it survives,I really made some good money on steemit back in 2017.

Can you tell us how you made money ?
 
Yeah, I used to create accounts there for linkbuilding purposes. They work like a charm if you want to rank videos on Google and yt.
 
Steemit time will be over with the arrival of EOS chain based " Voice " platform
 
It is mostly dead nowadays, and I see most of the posts being for link building purposes.
 
As most people has mentioned here, Steemit is good for link building. The problem with Steemit is that there is very little use cases for its Steem currency. People can get Steem for free by creating content and upvoting articles so there is no incentive to buy it and once you acquire steam, there are not many places where you can spend it. I like the idea of rewarding people for creating content but in the long term it is just not sustainable in my opinion.
 
Do you know why they decide to create their own crypto instead of using one of the existing well-known and widely-used ones for such a site/project? What are the benefits?

I think steemit is a good platform but Medium.com is now killing it.
The medium is so good to the level where many people like me will choose it better than steemit.
 
I get 10x less traffic from posts than I did in 2016-2017. I still make posts here and there for some easy high DA links.

It's done.Centralised garbage where majority of rewards are earned by a few punks.
Larimer from EOS already announced to be working on a new steemit
