There have been a fair few algorithm tweaks from the world?s favourite search engine of late, all in the name of providing more reliable results for its users.

What will they call the new updates? Let?s get the old crystal ball out.

I predict that the next few major Google algorithm changes will be named thus:

Google Skunk Update
Google Zebra Update
Google Badger Update
Google Friesian Cow Update

They could go for a two part dog themed update:

Google Border Collie Update
Google Dalmatian Update

Perhaps they?ll chuck an animal in completely from left field.

Google Quagga Update (Was that brown and white? Never mind ? it?s a good word.)

I wondered if I was the only person who had noticed the black / white animal theme to the Panda and Penguin updates.

Turns out I wasn?t: Jessica Lee mentioned it, and then Dr Pete spotted it too.

Perhaps they won?t even go with animals at all?
Google Minstrel Update ? that?s one for the *much* older generation I think.
Google? Michael Jackson Update? That?d be Black OR White of course.

Whatever they decide to go with next, I have to say that I am a big fan of both the Penguin and Panda updates. Not sure they?ve quite caught all of the dirty rascals with their all their link spam and duplicate content just yet, but I guess they?re on the case.

Meanwhile I?ll just sit tight and wait for the Google KILLER WHALE update!

There has been mention in the UK Daily Mail about the pending legal action if they do not alter their search results

Im sure there is a more recent article on there, but this one states they have until July 2nd

At OP, nice guessing but I guessed like this:

Google Antixrumer update
Google Antisenuke update
and so on

Nothing will ever kill Google, everyone's parents/grandparents/daughters/sons will still use the search engine empire, just because of us webmasters who are being 'hurt' by the empire does not mean everyone else hates the changes.

I don't think the updates are too much of a problem as you expect things to change and move on. What i don't like is the lack of information that we are given on the topic and we have to just go and work it out ourselves. This is fine in the long term but not but not fine when we have clients that unsurprisingly are expecting results. We can hardly tell clients to wait a couple of months while we run tests! You can write lots of great articles but have exact match anchor text links in them and all of a sudden that's spam and you go from position 1 to 100. Why not tell people that you are not allowed to do that before penalising them? Their updates would then be a lot smother.

I get that Google want to improve search results but why not be more open about the changes and give people a chance to fix them. All they do is point people to their guidelines which say very little and you are left to work it out yourself. The concept of just writing wonderful content and people linking to it is rubbish.

These updates makes good market opportunists for SEO firms. Without these updates SEO industry will be saturated and algo will be cracked down..
