Funny Picture Site Worth It?

After seeing some stuff about funny picture sites some months ago it got me thinking about the possibility of creating one to make some money from, but I don't really no much about what goes into making one and getting traffic to it. So is a site like this really worth the time and effort? or should a newbie like me just forget about it?

Don't know what to say exactly but Google Adsense doesn't like images sites.
 
They can work, mostly off of facebook user though
 
About 2 weeks ago I realised that I get these funny pictures showing up on my FB page every single day, usually around 10 of them minimum. So I thought why not upload these to a blogger blog and if I can get some traffic one day I will monetize. I upload every day (takes minutes) and so far have done no promotion (literally not a single thing, no building links or anything) yet I've had 400 page views. I'm sure if I was building links and promoting it would be much more.

I think eventually I will promote and try and rank and then monetize but I've heard google does not like picture blogs and you'll get banned from adsense for no content so you need an alternative.
 
Sounds like a fun side project to run. I think social and especially FB will be big for pictures - getting good pictures and memes and having other people share them. Wonder how you can then bring them back to the blog though..
 
Yes it is worth it, roflgirls dotty com was sold for 6k on flippa few days ago.
 
Rolf girls seems to be using adsense without any problems, wonder why some people get away with it as they don't appear to have any other content.
 
Hard to tell mate. IMO, the problem lies in CTR. If you have picture site with lousy CTR and ads that are placed so that people cannot accidently click on them,
it will work. However, if you put ads near to your previous and next buttons, then you will be banned.

On the other hand, maybe G's manual reviewer really liked the site :D

I have one in spanish getting 1500 vistors a day and only making 50 cents a day. I am a noobie so I have not done any balckhat SEO to it. I am wondering the same thing as you. With my numbers and your experiance, would you go for it? It is a 5 months old website.
 
I want to find a good plugin that that will load images over a period of time.
 
I coded mine so that User can upload the pictures. However, I don't know if i will have problems with google.
 
You are NOT going to get rich with these types of sites. Yes they go viral, but have little value that you can capitalize on.
 
I have a couple of these sites for celebrities and they really aren't huge earners. Adsense doesn't really like them either, in that they like their ads to be put on pages with content (other than an image).
 
You will hardly get any clicks as people just come on to steal your pictures.

+ you can't really sell any affiliate products!
and google adsense doesn't like these kinda sites unless you have tons of text with it.
