Try Treehouse.com.. I hear they have some great programs. I've never tried them but if I was just starting out they definitely look pretty hands on. (not associated with them at all)

I also prefer photoshop. Search for tutorials on YouTube. You'll find lots of them.

Check out a site called tuts+ ive subscribed on there, heaps of tutorials on graphic design.

agree,photoshop is one of the best graphic design software,i like to use it when i need to edit the photo,very useful

yes when you take your own photos it can be fun to edit them and manipulation on them...
