I know this will be heartbreaking for a person such as myself to see, but how much did you spend before you started to make money? And I don't mean make money as in spend $1000 and got back $1, I'm taking about before you broke even on your investment or made a profit

none you dont need any money to get started thats what makes the internet a beauty 15 years ago you would have had to place classified ads in newspapers across the country which would cost thousands now its all free so figure it out

I also didn't invest anything but time when I started.

My main site I hardly spent anything on - even hosting I got for free for like the first year.

It is time and effort.
If I worked out how much I would have spent if I'd been paying myself a wage that's a different story!!

You don't need money to get started, I started with ZERO.

But on some projects you gotta take risks and invest.

On a typical project we invest time (which costs money when you have employees), and if we don't see any uptake, we move on to the next idea. But we are lucky to have money already and the ability to pay for the time it takes to develop an idea.

I invest just few bucks:

1) $57 for Scrapebox
2) $20 for proxies
3) $20 for AA list
4) $35 for VPS

I got my money back for 5-6 days and start making the profit.

I spent about 20 dollars on my first site, and made me about 70 euros. :D
Too bad that i bought some shitty host, and my account was suspended because of the heavy traffic.(Got about 30k+ hits/day).

That's nice, now you could get a better host, and then do the same thing and bank some good money?

Thanks, that's what i will try to do.:)
It was a fan site to a local reality show, just posted youtube videos from the show, and some polls. Got some really good visitors boost from Search term tagging plugin. The show starts again in about 2-3 months, so i will need to start soon.:)

Nice, get ready, prepare yourself, and wait for the money to roll in :)

Hi, like they said if you have the time to do propper research, you dont need all most any money to start your IM carrer succesfully, there are coupons for domains, hosting and in the beginning you can write your own articles, just start reading all the topics on this wonderful forum, choose the method you like the most and start experiment, its like the nike comercial Just do it! ;)

Im a long way from breaking even, only 6 weeks in but after domains, hosting, having articles written, header designs and paying people to do backlinking.

Im one of the people that have more money than time or talent though. I planned the risk and went for it, I planned on 4 or 5 months before I start making more than I am spending.

I don't have anything ranking higher than top of page 5 yet so I just have to keep backlinking.

year 1
initial investment- $500.
+ 1k-2k over an 8 month span
+ $700-$800/every month

year 2
initial investment- $2500
+ 1k-1.5k over a 6 month span
+ $700-$800/every month

I thought this thread never really made light, so I haven't checked on it. It's really nice to see some of you made near no investment, I just bought SB myself and I've no idea what to do - a couple of threads I've got hold of will take me through it all though I'm sure.

Initial investment is $57, let's see where this goes.

i started with zilch back when you could make a living off a camtasia crack. i wouldn't do it again though - the competition is too efficient and the tools are too good/cheap.

First time: 0$ investment ( Blogger + AdSense ) up to 1.6k one month

I started with a domain and some hosting which cost about $20 total and made $500 in 2 months and then sold the site for another $500... I was a noob and I didn't price accordingly to my profits but hey $1000 from $20 isn't bad. I multiplied my profit by x50!
