These softwares (or shall I call them firmwares?) are pretty smart. They cut down the human errors to pretty much zero. However, they still aren't 100% perfect (like picking up shadows on road as objects etc) from what I have read. I totally love the idea, but I think there should be a manual button somewhere. If the human wants to take over, he should be able to do it in a fraction of a second.
So I can just see all the guys getting their automatic car licence making endless circles in local market parking slots in neat lines after closing time.
Edit: then I'll be like "don't go there, those guys are trouble"
I like all technological advancements without reservation. When I can sit in my autonomous car and control my swarm of drones flying above it using my neural link brain implant, I will truly be happy.
Its super exciting to see it one day. I know most think it is not 100% perfect but I think it will be great way forward and it will change the way we live drastically. Super excited to see autonomous cars
It shouldn't be connected to the internet. I have already seen a PoC which lets the attacker control, or even shutdown a particular model of a smart car from distance. It's not only about the update, but also about remote access. To repeat, these systems SHOULD BE disconnected. If somebody needs an update, (s)he would go to a dealer, and update through the debug port; and not over the internet.
