They never went anywhere, in the first place. Only difference is that now, things have to be done differently. Do not do different things, but do things differently, as far as getting threshold in Google Ads accounts, is concerned.

Nowadays ? Nowadays if anyone openly shares such working methods, then the very next moment it will turn from working into non-working. How ? Why ? Because, Google is omnipresent everywhere and Google even knows the colour of our underwear that we are wearing at any given point of time. Got it ? Now, try to grow up, and next time, do not ask such things which are prone to be patched up, if incase shared openly. Those days are gone as far as Google Ads is concerned.
Those who will openly share such methods (which are prone to be patched up), will tactfully misguide others, because, nowadays, no one in a sane state of mind, will openly share such methods (which are prone to be patched up).

But, I have an idea ... Pull up your socks, take a shovel and get to work, on an ongoing basis and find out YOUR working methods, on an ongoing basis.
In other words the only method that worked before, works now and will always continue to work, is called WORK (the method is about doing work and not being lazy, asking to be spoon-fed > those days are gone when it comes to Google Ads).

I mean full $500 threshold accs not the low $20 ones

you ever managed to spend a threshold from those threshold accounts being sold?
 
İki yıldır aynı yöntemi kullanıyorum ve mükemmel bir şekilde çalışıyor. Her zaman reklamların sorun yaratmadığı zamanlarda yayınlarım. şimdi türkiye reklamımda :)
