Yeah, I have always thought that that was pretty shitty - granted I would probably do it myself, I think they should turn the 3 month return policy into like, 1 week... I mean, if someone doesn't like the product then they have ample time to get a refund in 7 days.... dont give em' 3 months!

Im about 65% way thru an ebook im writing, I spent a lot of time, and put real valuable and unique information in it. I was going to use clickbank to sell it. Now I'm afraid all this content will be leaked and I will make almost no money due to refunds. Anyone else sell on clickbank or other related sites PM me some advice??

Publish it in paperback form rather than ebook (im sure theres a way to do it cheaply), least they would have chance of selling it on if they didnt like it and you wouldnt lose your sale.

One of the reasons I stopped promoting clickbank cold turkey a short while ago...

One day you think your gonna get paid 3k, and in a week your only actually gonna get 2k.

    It is terrible for this.

It depends on what you are promoting..

I found promoting money making products, products for savvy internet users have a high refund rate, whereas promoting something that is for the uninformed user you have less refunds. Just my experience.

Dude, don't get offended if I ask this... did you promote the product correctly or did you misled clients to buy the products?

When I first started out, I misled a client to buy a product... he immediately made a refund a few days later.
I deserve that, to be honest.
I took that as a lesson and started promoting CB products correctly without misleading them... and guess what? I made $6K within just 3 and 1/2 months.

I'm not boasting and my results is considered noobish. There are others who actually made 6K within a week or 2.

The important lesson here is... never misled them to buy it.
It could also be that the product you are promoting might just be crap. Some vendors just write crap products or fill their ebooks with full of affiliate links.

Here's 2 questions you should always ask yourself when you're experiencing high refunds:
    1. Are you misleading clients to buy the products? If "yes", stop it. If "no", get to the next question.
    2. Are you a vendor or an affiliate? If you're vendor, your product might not be meeting client's expectation. If you're an affiliate, the vendor might just be selling a crap or flawed product. Or the vendor is giving horrible customer service to clients. It's recommended to start promoting other products.

The only thing I had major refunds on was KWE2 (despite doing it at the $97 rate) ... that package just went crazy on sales, and then even more crazy on refunds.

While KWE2 was pretty junky for the price I sell much worse junk on Clickbank without refunds...

I promote at the moment 2 main products with clickbank and average refund rate is 11% and 7%, before they launched new ticket system (so customer can easy request refund) refund rate was ~6% and 3%
And about your 2 sales and then both refunds - it happens also for me sometimes I get 3 refunds in a row and no sales but you firstly need to make many sales 10's of them or more and then you can say if refund rate is high or not.
If you made only 2 sales and both are refunded it still didn't mean anything....
Also it depends on product you are promoting highest refund rates are for crappy forex robots and make money scams...

Not offended, I did not mislead anyone hence why my sales were only 2, had I been a little more misleading I probably would have more sales and more refunds too its a cach22.

the key to avoiding refunds is volume. make a lot of sales and u wldnt notice the refunds. making a few isnt that great because of the refund threshold and also the amt that is withheld.

It so fucking irritating. Cb should stop refund policy. Some assholes buy the product copy it on pc and then motherfuckers asked for refund.

Ok so I just had my first taste of this new refund system. I had someone buy one of my products and request a refund within 2 MINUTES of purchase. This is such blatant abuse of the system and they are just plain stealing the product, not even trying to hide it.

Obviously I elevated it to ClickBank pointing out that this is blatant abuse/theft and requested that they be banned from any future purchases. I suggest that any other CB vendors having this issue should do the same, especially if it is this obvious.

Unfortunately, refunds is something we all have to deal with in business. Even though it sucks, no matter how much you complain about it, nothing will change. There will always be those customers that buy shit just to have a peek inside.

The only way to get over refunds is to combat it. How? Here are some of my favorites.

    1. Make sure you really fucking pre-sell a customer. Gone are the days of direct linking to sales page(at least for me). Create a REAL review of a product. People that shop online don't want to hear a fake review that makes a product out to be 100% perfect. Give them a real review with real pros and cons about a product and they will love you for it.

    2. Offer a killer bonus. This way you can control the customer. There are many ways to use a bonus, but my favorites are offering a membership type bonus. This way they cannot refund. If they do, they void access to your bonus. Another is plain cash-back refunds. This is against TOS in most cases, but it works . If you do ot on the DL, you can get away with it. Your conversions will sky-rocket and your refunds will plummet. With that said, this move is breaching TOS, so I take no responsibility if something happens to your affiliate account.

    3. Build a list. This is so basic, yet still the majority of marketers don't do it. Having list in many markets is what separates the big-time money makers and the guys making scraps or nothing at all.

These methods have caused my refund rates to fall drastically, and my conversions to shoot up. It's all about controlling the customer and ultimately the sale.

Like the OP said, he worked his ass off for the weekend. That sucks. But if you are gonna do work anyways, why work for someone else? Work for your business, and when you do, make sure you do all that you can to protect it.
