i used to fight with my father back 20 years ago over stupid shit, i was always in the wrong. I thought i knew my shit. I ended up beating him to the floor one day, because shit escalated to the point that it had to happen unfortunately. I never felt so bad in my life. Long story short about a month later i ended up going into juvenile detention and a private school (at his expense mind you) took two years to get my head on right, i was hanging with douche bags who i thought had my best interest at heart. Lol being a kid is the worst thing i swear.
By the time i was 19 and i was married for the first time and had to go out and support myself. What a lesson.
20 years later him and my mom are my real best friends, and great grandparents to my family. I to this day occasionally look back on those problems, and the fight and i can never take those back. I totally hurt the one man in the world who cared unconditionally. I was a total ass. I can never ever say im sorry to fix that, and the lessons he taught me during that time were real world shit. If my kids did to me like i did to them (him) i dont know what id do.
All he asked you was to turn the lights out, and you went through all that. If i was your dad i would have had you taken away for a night or two see if you smarten up. If my dad had done that to me, it might have saved me alot of grief.
You only have one dad, and he works to care for you and your family. Give the old man the respect, he deserves. Even if you have to bite the bullet. I dont know your dad, but dads in general have been around the block, and i imagine hes to be at fault too as it takes two to tango. But your still in the wrong no matter what its his house, if he asks you to do something do it, he has reasons. Dont be a little poser bitch and give him grief.
Like everyone said, try giving him some money to help with the bills man, times are fuckin tough right now. He probably is too proud to take it, but it doesnt mean you cant be a man and help out, buy some of your own school clothes and stuff, or work hard so he doesnt have to give you an allowance, get your license and a car, take the load off. And if all else fails get a shrink, and work out the problems you have with your father. you only get one my little friend. You dont want to end up like me 20 years later and look at your dad and know you hurt the one good thing in your life over something that stupiid and know you can never be able to take it back...
And remember hes not perfect. It makes him a good dad having faults. My dad was a drinker and womanizer and he recovered from both, strong willed. Our faults define us, I have been addicted to most substances i touch, genetics, but i recovered from them and have taught my children about the horrors ive gone through. Im not proud of it, but it defines me as a father and human. Love your dad, hes had it tough man i have no doubt. But thats life our parents are human.
