HA! Yeah, that does make me feel better.

And yeah, those are the 2 apps that finally got me all cleaned up. Unfortunately I've had 2 blue screens since the fix, so I think something may have been removed that shouldn't have been. I may have to do the whole HiJackThis route pretty soon.

I sure hope that gent is enjoying his dime.

Spyware Doctor is awesome Adware Killer, give it a try... its a little heavier than any other program. but worth to try..

Oh great, now the boot sector for my OS is unavailable.

I guess it's time for a reformat. Luckily I run a tight ship when it comes to back ups. But crikey! the time I lost, and will lose to rebuild that machine!

Man, you malware/adware guys need to find some better hobbies to burn off that youthful zeal for destroying the time and resources of others.

I'm using Ubuntu also after those malware/adware brought my xp down for the second time in my online life last week. Quite satisfy with the performance at the moment.

I second that. I got unbuntu running on all my pc's and one of my old boxes is dual boot incase the wife wants to use MS office. I do not worry about defraging, spyware or viruses anymore.

For those of you who are new to Linux and/or still need to use some apps that only run on Windows, you may want to give VirtualBox a try: hxxp://virtualbox.0rg

It basically does the same thing VMware does, it lets you run an OS in a virtual machine. I've been using it for more than a year now to run XP on Linux machines and it kicks ass. Dead easy to use, very stable and good performance on any recent hardware (if you don't try to run 3D-shooters or whatever in it).

The virtual disks it creates can be backed up just like any other regular file, so if something nasty happens to your Windows installation, you can just restore the disk file from your backup and you're done - maybe five minutes work instead of a weekend.

There's a lot of very good and detailed information out there on how to use it even if you don't have a lot of experience with Linux, just ask your favourite search engine.
