FUCK YEAH! SOPA seems defeated!

As someone living in Canada I had no hope for fighting against SOPA (since it wouldn't apply here) but I would have been impacted by the number of american entity sites that were effected. All of us around the world couldn't write to congress reps or sign petitions we had to wait on you Americans to get the job done.

...And I'm not going to lie; when we heard we had to leave that responsibility to you a number of us thought we were fucked; mainly because we know that as individuals Americans are hard working, smart, focused and strive through thick and thin to get the job done. As a whole however...well we were worried.

But you did it! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

At this point I have had far too of the office party "refreshments" and this thread may seem out there but today really is a joyous day!

That great news thanks for the update! I personally called two congressmen leaving my thoughts on the matter. I honestly thought it was the end of online freedom since it was their foot in the door. America is run by the Rothchilds, Jp Morgans, and the Rockefellers. We are no longer the land of the free, but the land of the future military police state. Now watch this thread get deleted

Great news. However, I dont think the fight is over just yet..

I was so shocked when I got the tweets from the EFF about the bill being tabled. As happy as I am that it has been stalled, I cant help but wonder what is going on. More than likely they evil forces supporting the bill are trying to find a loophole or a way to sneak it through without gaining so much attention. Regardless, I am very proud of the online community. The way people started to rise up against this bill made me proud. Now, lets hope we can do this every time those idiots try something like this.

I can tell you this...some serious cash from the big Blue Chip players was being tossed around from Google, Yahoo, Wikipedia, and the likes. They are paying some high powered lobbyists to shut this bad boy down and rightfully so. It's about time we put some of that big money to good use!

But theres an opposing group with just as much or even more money. Why you think Hollywood will beat the tech industry?

Comcast and Verizon own the US Government and can do what they want. The fact that they are even making a show about it ..... is only a sad formality. Corporate American Monopolies will lock down the internet to wipe the asses of a few companies for short term profits. This will allow other countries with lax internet laws to outperform the US in technology in every way and leave nothing behind. Congress should be flogged with a sock full of rocks in a public square while someone reads them the constitution that they are pissing on. :toilet13:

Congress' cluelessness about the Internet as demonstrated today and yesterday pretty much showed it all.

The reason the "Internet companies" such as Comcast and Verizon are in favor of SOPA is because they are really internet companies on the side,and mainly TV companies. I don't think there is any company in the U.S. that provides just internet service.

It's sad that we allowed just a few companies to basically buy every media outlet in the entire US, and now they run the show. Unfortunately, this law will pass, in some shape or form, some day.

However, I must agree that selling bogus drugs is just flat-out rude.

Its because American society pushes watching tv so much and going to the movies. Its not the end of the world if it passes,New bills can be introduced and theres the Supreme Court.
