Yeah, I have a routine down, or at least try to have a loose routine.
1 day look for keywords and related content and terms . Get a list of 10 or so "good" keywords and a list of maybe 8 related keywords for each. Take some notes on the subject overall. Because when your writing articles, you do not want to stop typing ever!!
So, by picking up general information on your topic, you can add filler when your mind goes blank while writing the facts of the article. Not a lot, but just knowing some general info gives you a sentence or 2 of time to think or remember another fact to write about. Because you can't let those fingers stop typing EVER!
Next day, I'll write 5-8 articles 800 words + and just leave them.
Next day I'll write an article to spin and spin it 20 times and submit to top 20 directories.
Next day, check my news alerts in google for new sites mentioning my keyword etc and put those articles I wrote on the blog.
Next, I'll run through some manual blog comments, keep active in some forum posts I have going, bookmark my articles I'v submitted, Update twitter, update facebook, check stats and write articles that match the search queries more closely.
Sometimes I do those things in 3 days, sometimes 5. But, I know the goal, I know the outcome, I know it takes time.
It will take some time to learn not to be looking at statistics. You will suffer from analysis paralysis. When you feel you want to look at backlink stats or something, don't. Just go write some content, look to expand on your niche. Content is King, Backlinks are Queen.
Depends on your strategy. But seriously. Just pound away at it. You will be rewarded with long term success.
BTW: It might look like that's not a lot of work and its spread out, well that's just one authority site, I have about 20 others to work on as well
Stop reading this now, and write an article and spin it. DO NOT underestimate the power of spinning because perhaps you don't understand it. You MUST be active in a couple of forums. Do you have any idea how many hits I get a day after I post and help someone in a forum? They become loyal.
And, If you can't go into a forum and post some REALLY helpful tips to someone, and have them become loyal and look at you for advice, then perhaps your in the wrong niche. I mean, I can't go onto a forum and talk about "the best hammer to use". When you pick that niche, you have to think:
Can I create newsletters based on my niche forever, without repeating?
Can I mix another niche into this niche to expand my reach?
Can I actively post on many forums with REAL advice that people seek?
Can I make a website that people will WANT TO BOOKMARK?
Can I seriously be interested in this topic to write about it every day of my life?
If you can answer those yes, You write good content for the people, and do subtle promotion, twitter, facebook, bookmarks, articles, blog commenting, forums, newsletters, press releases, It will come.
I know you prob want the fast lane, and the questions, suggestions look stupid and simple. But people like simple.
