Hi all seo lovers!
We have an online shopping website for our hi-tech products.
mainly, our products prices are in a range between $1000 and $20k and buyers are professional & academic people like biology professors.
We have already tried everything in the past years. Seo, ppc, banner ads and so on.
But now after all these hard works we still only sell products to our old customers. They call and order some.
We have tried to be seen by Google searchers. So we worked on seo stuff. But it didn't work as we changed our shopping platform over the time and our website structure was changed over and over again.
Now we are not even in the first 10 pages in our main keywords.
So we still focus on ppc ads (adwords). But it doesn't return much (in term of expenses).
Now I need some help from you. Please tell me what should I do to make this change? Should I still focus on seo? Should I buy some high quality backlinks to gain the lost authority?

If you've been changing site structure, then you've probably 404d a lot of your valuable links. To be honest, you should probably hire a reputable SEO to do an audit and make recommendations.

Please note: my services are not for hire, but there are many on here who are.

I personally know seo and I'm a web designer.
I can check these things out. But i don't believe it will work that way as we have so many competitors with high-quality and authoritative websites.

We are working on it for more than 3 years.

It sounds like you're selling products to businesses and not consumers. Your writing makes it seem like you're trying to do B2C (Business to Consumers) when you should be focusing on B2B (Business to Business). Maybe I'm wrong but when you're selling expensive equipment online, a business is buying it -- not an individual.

Start analyzing your old customers. How did you guys obtain them? Have you tried referral programs? Are you guys part of the same organizations as people who would buy your equipment? For example, if you sold expensive conveyor belts for grocery stores then you should be part of some grocery store association so you can communicate with businesses within that association.

Is the information you have on your website about your product detailed and well organized enough that potential buyers can see and 'trust' your brand?

Since you're no on the first page, you must have competition. What is your competition doing right? What are they doing that you can do instead? Is there something they're doing that you can do better?

Ask yourself these questions and it should get the ball rolling. 'SEO' in the BHW sense wont help you -- you need to think outside it as well.

So you know SEO but you are not ranking? May I suggest that you issue is that you think you know SEO, but you don't, and this is your main issue?

Consider someone who knows how Google sees websites, what's a high quality content, how he should work with webmaster tools, how their website structure should be, all about robots, sitemaps, metas, authority and so on...
What would you call him? For sure he knows something, but things don't go well as they have been in troubles as i told. So, honestly I'm not here to prove myself to you, I just want to know how you guys think about it, how would you try to sell something with $1k to $20k prices?

Actually we don't want to use blackhat methods. We really need whitehat methods as we have a long-term plan.

Define what you class as white hat, black hat, grey hat and then look at what Google defines as white hat etc.

No such thing as a SEO and a web designer. Having worked with 100s (possibly 1000s) of web designers, they're all weird and don't have any idea of marketing or technicals. They colour a website in and fuck websites up, that's it. They are shit people.

Wha you did for your website until now?, the last 6 months?
Can you pm your url?
