I know this question has been asked in probably countless generic ways. But I wanted to hopefully get a little more specific.

If I had a keyword with decent on page SEO, and the competition for this keyword was under 10K in " " and the "inanchor" resulted in less than 30, how would you go about building up the backlinks for this one?

I've been doing it fairly slowly and managed to get 2 pages to roughly 9-12th position depending on the datacenter you are looking at and the other at about 30th.

So far, there are no backlinks showing in google's webmaster tools (weird) but there are 20 links showing in yahoo site explorer for the page that's in the lead. All of the links are between PR0 and PR3 ish. I've actually gotten about 120 or so backlinks, but yahoo site explorer isn't showing all of them...though they do pop up a few more a day. I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong (seems like a long time to have these show up, but maybe not?). Am I just being impatient?

Any educated guesses as to what it would take to get this to #1 position? or possible #1 and #2 for those pages? I've been at this particular keyword for about 3 weeks or so.

If more info needed (other than keyword and site, haha), let me know. I tried to be specific enough. Just hoping for some feedback and people with more experience than me who have done something like this before.

Thanks,

DMONY

Create an account and submit your site to digg dot com. The big G will immediately count it as one backlink. Also register and use stumbleupon too. Good luck!

Also, keep a running list of your backlinks and add them all to the Big G here:

h**p://w*w.google.com/addurl/

sometimes it works right away, but not always.

Another way to get G to recognize your backlinks faster is to put your backlinks in h**p://searchsight.com/ but don't overdo it.
