From PR0 to PR3 in Three Days

Hi guys,
A month ago I bought a new domain and installed wordpress, didn't add any content to it, just made a first page post and that's it. I made maximum 10 backlinks and in less than a week I got PR2. Today is still PR2 and still no content added.

These seem like mistakes in google algorithm or may they want to say PR is dead.

But apart from a number n the toolbar, what else does a PR do? During the last update I got a completely abandoned co.cc site to PR 2. Only thing was it has unique content. It did not make me a penny :(

Questions is: if PR gets easier to achieve, will it still hold the same value in ranking high in SERPS?

G+ has a lot of power to kick up pr, but it is also a risky method IMO and I'm not even gonna touch it. I've heard horror stories of Google being dumb and sandboxing people after they install the button. Crazy stuff and enough to scare me away.

Do you have any other sites that you are promoting with Google+? I wonder if Google is doing this to get marketers using them instead of Facebook and take away some of their marketshare. Facebook is now their biggest competitor and they will try anything to overtake them.
If they feel that they can give website owners an added boost in the SERP's by using + you know they will do it. They want people hanging out on G not FB.

I have a site showing a PR3 with only one backlink (from a PR4 page) and it reached PR3 after just a week or so. I've gone back weeks later to check and it's still PR3.

Not that PR matters much anyhow. I've got PR1 sites that get thousands of visitors a day while the PR3 site I mentioned gets just a few.

give it two weeks could just be a mistake by Google but they will have it straightened out by then

Seems to me like a google anomaly, but anyway people shouldn't concentrate too much of their thoughts on pagerank as it is traffic that matters :D

Congrats on getting the PR quickly.. I hope for you it stays but I guess I agree with the quote above as well as other topics on PR lately. There are so many pieces to the puzzle these days this is one of the flashier ones that people can see but I wonder how much it really matters without all the other things that make up a site...
