From noob to $100 a day doing whatever it takes

Hey everybody! I decided to post my journey up here as a way for me to keep track of everything that's going on and also to hopefully one day help someone else out. I have a large following (15k+) on an adult social media site (think along the lines of camgirls) and I want to monetize it the best I can, and then use the experience to branch out in to other (non-adult) projects.

I started out last week with absolutely no experience. I didn't keep track of exactly what I was doing, but I'll give you guys a summary of the past 6 days as best as I can remember.

Day 1 (February 17, 2015)

• Bought and hosted a domain. I think I got a good url, but time will tell with that one. I might change it one day.
• Installed wordpress.
• Started telling followers to expect a website soon.
• Installed a theme and installed a coming soon/maintenance plugin. I put an affiliate cam show on the coming soon page, and earned about three bucks with it my first day. Nice!
• Installed google analytics.
• Worked on theme

Day 2

• Worked on my theme all day.
• Kept advertising my website to my followers.
• Earned another dollar today!

Day 3

• I scrapped the theme I was working on and used some money I made on userTesting to buy a premium $60 theme. This sets me back a little (I'm pretty broke right now), but I see it as an investment. It will pay off eventually.
• Started looking in to ways to advertise. Signed up for a few different adult ad networks, going to test them out slowly in sidebars and see how they do. I'm trying out juicyads, plugrush, exo click, and ero advertising. No popunders, no redirects, just banners. I don't want people to get annoyed with all the ads and not come on the site. Going to research this some more.
• Created a logo, header, etc etc. Still working on the theme.

Day 4

• Launch day! I've been getting really good feedback, and the affiliate cam is getting pretty good revenue. I've earned $10 dollars from it so far.. not bad!
• The ads, on the other hand, are just bringing pennies. Nobody is clicking them, but I'm getting a lot of impressions (1k-2k). Going to keep researching this.
• Thinking about doing some affiliate sales through this website. My followers have showed interest in it, so I think that might be a potential goldmine if I can find the right things to sell them.
• Submitted website to google.

Day 5

• Set up a forum on the website, told people to sign up. I got 50 members or so in about six hours! Really pleased with that.
• Maybe I'll start a newsletter for this site - it seems like having giant lists of emails is one of the most useful things you can do, based on my studies. I'll start looking for a good plugin to collect them, and look in to mailchimp as well.
• Installed a few various widgets to test them out, then uninstalled them right after. Still trying to find a set up I like, but it's all coming together really nicely. I actually feel like I'm doing something with my time. I think I'll be doing this for a long time, regardless if this website flops or not.
• Wrote my first ever blog post, had unique visitors to my blog skyrocket - ever since I've posted it there's been at least 10 people on the website at all times looking at various pages according to analytics. Over 2k unique visitors today!
• Ads still only bringing in pennies. Still researching.

Day 6

• Got banned from my old cam site affiliate program until I verify my identity. My license is expired right now (so annoying. they should last a life time.) so I can't verify it until I go get that taken care of. Looking in to alternatives.
• Applied for crakrevenue - hopefully that works out - it looks like it'd be the perfect alternative for what I need.
• Optimized all the content on the site to be ranked "good" by Yoast seo in at least two different keywords. This took a long time. I advertised the website to my followers the whole time
• Interviewed someone starting out (doing something camgirl-esque). They have ~2k followers, and I'm hoping this interview lands me some bigger fish. Unique visits still skyrocketing. I'm starting to get a little nervous - I didn't expect this website to blow up so fast. I was thinking it was going to be nice and slow, and I'd go through a few websites for practice before I found something profitable/popular. I'm scared that I'm doing something wrong and losing money because of it. I'm on BHW and various other websites reading everything I can, and at the same time trying to put it all in to action on my website. Things are getting crazy - I'm easily putting 12+ hours in to this website a day. It's the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing I do before I go to bed. I was at my other job (bleh) for a few hours the other day and I felt like being there was the biggest waste of my time - I could be at home working on my site. It's exciting. I really think I'm on to something here, guys.

Thanks! It's kind of daunting to be at what feels like the tip of the iceberg, but I have a gut feeling that everything will work out with this. I'm trying to chase that feeling instead of just giving up because it's hard!

Thank you! I had to post something here or I'd explode from excitement - nobody in real life wants to hear me talk about my plans and goals and what I've learned for three hours at a time... I'll just keep going until somebody snaps at me haha.

Day 7

• Got accepted in to crakrevenue!! This is awesome. The ads are exactly what I was looking for - I'm expecting good things from this. I'll see if the numbers match up next week and go from there. I put a few different rotating ads on my home page - it's out of the way and I don't think they'll bug anybody. Hopefully it's an okay spot.
• Did a lot of promotion work today with my followers - they seemed to appreciate it. I want to keep them happy.
• Wrote another blog post. This one is really good, featuring just a girl (she's really good looking too). I'm trying to decide if I want to post it tomorrow, or wait until the day after.

I feel like this week was really productive and impressive for me being a complete noob. I learned a lot, but still have a lot more to learn in order to make this work. I'm off to a good start though, I think!

Good luck man. Couple of good ideas in there I like. I'll not straight up copy them but when I read it , it started the old cogs turning. That's why I spend time here reading. You never know what might trigger an idea or connect some useless knowledge to some other useless knowledge to make it...well, slightly less useless.

Day 8

• Posted up that blog post I wrote yesterday. Got a ton of uniques from it, hopefully some of them were new.
• Bought a $10 ad campaign - comes out to 13,337 impressions or something like that. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
• Added a new slider to the website and changed the footer menu (it was the same as the main menu before)
• Research, research, research. Still so much to learn about SEO.
• Did some microwork stuff - the little bit of extra money a week is nice. I can get ~$50 a week if I really put some effort in to it (1-2 hours a day)

Day 9 and 10

• Took a needed mini-vacation out to my GF's house in the boonies. Didn't really get too much done. That's okay though.

Day 11

• Threw up some original content (48 seconds worth of video) for $1.50 or do a cpalead survey to dl it. I earned some money from both, so I'm gonna start content locking some OC once or twice a week - seems to be working better than CPC and CPA banners.

Sold videos: $10.42
Content locked video: $9.80
TOTAL: $20.22

Day 12

• Switched my content locker - people were complaining about the surveys on the other one.
• Posted another interview today - this was an easy one to write, they gave me a lot to talk about.

sold videos: $10.34
content locked videos: $7.45
TOTAL: $17.79

day 13

• had some internet problems today
• managed to post up another content locked file, though. seems to be doing pretty well.
• got paid for some microwork I did last week

microwork: $40.00
sold videos: $8.06
content locked videos: $10.35
TOTAL: $18.41 (not gonna count microwork)

Keep up the good work man!
It's all about experimenting with your traffic! See what floats your boat,

content lock will earn you most but it'll most probably get the most complains from "free" users who expect the internet is suppose to be free.
so you have to find a way to please all traffic.

This is growing so quickly, inspiring stuff. Setting up a forum on your website was an excellent idea I feel. People will tell their friends, it will have a constant buzz about the place, and the discussions will attract people from all over the internet. Can't believe I never thought of attaching one to a website before.

Is your website a niche website? Or just a forum with affiliate stuff?

Edit: Sorry OP, those were silly questions after rereading this thread. Need more coffee! Hopefully a better question: You said your fanbase was in the adult industry and I'm guessing your new website is too. How do you make OC for this assuming you don't have a porn studio? Also, make sure to watermark all the OC so it doesn't get pinched!
